Rita is an Honours student working on avirulence gene identification and phylogenetic analysis of wheat stripe rust. Throughout her bachelor’s degree in genetics in ANU, she has developed a deep interest in molecular biology, biochemistry and programming. Now in Team Schwessinger, she is passionate about uncovering the evolutionary history of host adaptation of this bright-yellow fungus with the use of bioinformatics techniques.
Away from the office, she likes drawing, cooking, playing chess and watching marine documentaries. Her spirit animal is kakapo.
